Italian agent Alessandro Lucci discussed his client, Alessandro Florenzi, and how the player almost joined Inter a few years ago in an interview with Italian newspaper Il Foglio earlier today.

“Alessandro is one of the purest and healthiest guys I’ve ever met. A lover of love. He made a choice that is Romanism, right or wrong I don’t know. What I do know is that two years ago, when his contract was due to expire with the Giallorossi due to delays at the club, he had a very important five-year contract at Inter with Spalletti.”

Lucci highlighted how Florenzi gave up a significant offer from Inter in order to remain with the Giallorossi.

At the age of 27 he gave up a lot of money to stay at Roma. Having said that, the fans are disappearing. Today it’s difficult to be because of too many interests and the overexposure of the athletes. The fan lives on passion, he’s emotionally vulnerable, an attitude that leads him to change his mind immediately. It only takes a moment to destroy fifteen years of love.”

The 29-year-old Florenzi has spent the second half of this season on loan with Spanish side Valencia, joining the club at the end of January. He has struggled to impress whilst in Spain, failing to score or register an assist for the club in 13 appearances so far this season across all competitions.

He will return to the Italian capital in the summer, but despite a contract expiry in 2023, it seems likely that the club will look to sell him. Last season, Florenzi scored three goals and provided three assists in 38 appearances for the Giallorossi, struggling to impress yet again.
