Inter manager Antonio Conte spoke on the importance of winning when it comes to being remembered and that the team must use this to help them give their best in tomorrow night’s Europa League final against Spanish club Sevilla.

“As a player I have played a lot of finals, I won but I also lost a lot. What I realised is that people only remember when you win, I won one Champions League final but I lost three,” he explained to the gathered media as part of the pre-match press conference which was held a short time ago.

“Winners go into history, that’s how it is. There must be the enthusiasm of an important path in the Europa League that will give players experience for the future.

“We must be proud to have reached a final after ten years for a club like Inter, but history is written by whoever wins. We only remember who won. It’s a shame but it must also push us to give our best.”

He was then reminded of his comment when he took charge of Inter where he said he wanted to have a chance of winning, even if only 1% and was asked when he realised the team had what it took to be successful.

“When I accepted the job I wanted to feel the possibility of winning something. All those who have worked with us have noticed that this perception has grown day by day, I have found a commendable group with a great desire to work and to make themselves available to do something as protagonists.

“At the end of it all we were competitive in every competition, the perception increased as the days went by and as we worked, seeing that the ideas took root and people believed in them.

“The courage has also increased, so did our chances of winning something as important as the Europa League but we have to prove we deserve it against a difficult team but we are here and we will give everything to give joy to us, the fans and the club.”

He was then asked what scares him about tomorrow’s opposition, who are five team Europa League winners.

“The word fear is not part of my vocabulary and must not be part of that of the players either. We value Sevilla and their history in the competition but if we are here it is because we have our cards to play and we want to do it in the best way.”

In conclusion he was asked whether he has thought about whether this match could be his last as manager of the club given his uncertain future, which is what it is because of his most recent public outburst.

“I am thinking of doing the press conference of a Europa League final with two champions. Tomorrow I will try to live the final. I live for the moment, I have learned this in my career. I think about what it is now and I want to live it at 360 ° and have no regrets.”
