Inter manager Antonio Conte will only be able to hold one group training session prior to Saturday evening’s Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

All players currently away on international duty will be back at the club’s training facilities on Thursday but rather than train, they will undergo a round of testing for COVID-19.

Excluding those currently sidelined by COVID-19, Conte will only be able to hold a group training session on Friday and hopes that those away on national team duty return in good health.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to explain that it is possible that Conte could recover Alessandro Bastoni, who is currently COVID-19 positive and asymptomatic.

Bastoni will be subject to another COVID-19 test on Thursday or Friday and if he returns a negative result, he will be subject to some medical examinations in order to be given the green light.

If everything goes smoothly, Bastoni could start for Inter in the derby but even if he does not start, he would be a real asset for the bench.
