Former Inter and Juventus manager Marcello Lippi believes the Nerazzurri have gained an advantage over fellow title challengers in now having only one competition to play for.
Inter’s elimination from the Coppa Italia leaves them with only one more trophy available to them in the Scudetto, former manager Marcello Lippi told Italian broadcaster Sky Sport yesterday afternoon he thinks this will leave them in a good position to go on and win the title.
“There is a lot of time left until the end of the season and we must also consider the cup commitments of some teams.
“Then there is Inter who can concentrate only on the Serie A, a very important advantage” claimed Lippi.
The race for the Scudetto now boils down to arguably the three biggest clubs in the league with Inter, AC Milan and Juventus all eyeing up a first placed finish come the end of the season.
Marcello Lippi, who famously guided Italy to World Cup glory in 2006, gave his take on the three coaches all hoping to lift that trophy at the end of the campaign.
“I followed Conte a lot, even when he was in the national team. The same with Pirlo.
“I found great serenity in Pirlo, while Antonio is always the same he was a driving force as a footballer and now he is also as a coach.
“I really like Pioli, considering that Milan has also strengthened a lot, Inter, Juve and Milan will play until the end” concluded Lippi.
The title race in Italy is the most exciting it has been in a very long time since Juventus’ domestic domination, beginning a decade ago.
However, this season we could see the title return to Milan but the question of whether it ends up with the Rossoneri or the Nerazzurri remains to be seen.
