Antonio Conte is preparing a special training programme to help Romelu Lukaku regain peak fitness, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Inter striker looked ‘understandably tired‘ after playing almost constantly since football resumed last summer, at times carrying the Nerazzurri on his own.

Lukaku has played more minutes than almost every other striker in Serie A this season and this has made it difficult for the Belgian to manage his body properly.

However, Inter now only have the league to focus on and Conte is hoping the 27-year-old will benefit from having to play just once a week from now on.

The Milanese publication said Lukaku needed more time than others to recover between games, given his imposing physical structure and muscle mass.

Lukaku has already shown the lengths he is willing to go to in order to protect his body, changing his bed and mattresses at home when he had a back problem earlier this season.

Gazzetta revealed the former Manchester United striker had now bought a cryotherapy tank as well to help with his recovery, in addition to the hyperbaric chamber he uses twice a week.

Lukaku’s physique can only be positively affected by all of this and in short, it should mean Conte will be able to have Big Rom at his best again for the crucial part of Inter’s season.
