A happy Walter Mazzarri was interviewed by Premium Calcio after Inter beat Genoa 2-0 at the San Siro: “Many of the players who played today were here last season and it was important for the to feel comfortable and safe. We could have taken the lead in the first half but in the second half they lost a bit of intensity and we were able to find the back of the net. On the bench I find I have two, three substitutes of high quality which I can introduce to the game and we managed to double our lead after having played well where we created a few chances. Not conceding is the first step, otherwise you run the risk of them saying that you’re easy to score on.”

Shortly after Mazzarri was interviewed by the clubs own channel, Inter Channel: “I saw a very good match. I knew that Kovacic and a few others didn’t have 90 minutes in them, he did very well. Icardi also did very well because he opened up a lot of space for Palacio and the others thanks to his movement. Those who have followed us during the pre-season will understand why the first goal was particularly satisfying for me, a winger crossing the ball to the other winger who scores. We conceded nothing to Genoa, this is very important. It was important that we were able to conquer the ball in the middle of the pitch.”

In the official post-match pressconference, our partners FcInterNews.it asked Mazzarri if he thought Alvarez past the test in his new position, playing slightly deeper in midfiel: “It’s not the first time that Alvarez plays the way he did today. He did it in the friendly matches and against Cittadella. We are all very happy that he is playing so good right now.”

Finally Mazzarri was asked about what he thought about the reports which state that Samuel Eto´o is currently in Milano: “The city is a very beautiful city of fashion….The transfermarket? Don’t even try.”
