Lautaro Martinez is happy at Inter but cannot be certain to stay at the club yet, the striker’s agent warned today.

El Toro has a contract with the Nerazzurri until 2023 which sees him earn €2.5 million, but Inter are expected to renew that in the near future.

Talks between the parties have been in progress for some time, but the club’s financial problems appear to have brought everything to a halt.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport for today’s print edition, Lautaro’s agent Alejandro Camano explained: “We’re calm, but Inter’s current situation means we can’t make any forecasts.

“Like others, we first want to understand what the club’s future will be.”

Lautaro made it clear in an interview on Tuesday that he intended to stay at Inter, but the off-field concerns regarding owners Suning mean there is still uncertainty.

“I can’t promise anything, it’s pointless making predictions in the current situation,” Camano admitted.

“Lautaro is happy in Milan, he’s just won a scudetto and was a key player in that, but we can’t do anything except wait.

“There’s no meeting planned with Inter at the moment, I think we’ll see each other at the end of the season.

“Talks (over a contract extension) are on standby.”

Real Madrid were linked with a move for Lautaro earlier this week, but Camano insisted there were no talks in progress for now.

“I’ll respond by saying that I’m not talking to any club,” he assured.

“Lautaro is an Inter player and still has two years on his contract, Inter is the priority.

“Like I said, we need to find out though what will happen at club level.”

Camano also offered reassuring news regarding another of his clients at Inter, Achraf Hakimi.

“Achraf’s situation is different, he still has four years on his contract,” he added.

“Right now I’d say he is staying.”
