Sports data experts Opta have taken to Social Media to reveal that Inter captain Samir Handanovic has equalled Walter Zenga’s appearance record for a goalkeeper at the club.
After sitting out Wednesday’s 3-1 win over Roma, the Slovenia international returned to the starting line-up for yesterday’s 3-2 loss against Juventus to match Zenga’s 328 Serie A appearances.
Handanovic joined Inter from Udinese in 2012 and helped the Nerazzurri win the Scudetto this season, allowing coach Antonio Conte to give back-up Andrei Radu opportunities.
“328 – Samir Handanovic will play his 328th match with the Nerazzurri in Serie A, a joint-record for an Inter goalkeeper in the competition alongside Walter Zenga. Captain,” Opta tweeted.
