Inter still have lots to play for in their Serie A finale against Udinese, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Corriere dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri wanted to finish their season in style, after they were condemned to defeat at Juventus by a terrible refereeing display from Gianpaolo Calvarese.
Inter can go past 90 points for only the second time in their history if they win at San Siro on Sunday (they would end up on 91), after Roberto Mancini led the club to 97 points in the 2006-07 season.
Antonio Conte’s side will also be gunning to extend their club record-breaking run of home wins in the league, which is currently 15 after they defeated Roma last week.
Inter are also hoping to finish the season with Serie A’s best defence, with the Nerazzurri currently three goals clear of Juventus in that particular table.
They have a great chance of ending with the best goal difference as well (it is currently +50), as they have a five-goal advantage over Atalanta and Napoli (who have +45).
Inter can no longer match Juventus’ record for the number of points secured in a single half of the season, because they can only make it to 50 points by beating Udinese.
Conte set that record himself back in the 2013-14 season, when the Bianconeri reached the halfway mark of the campaign with 52 points.
