Antonio Conte’s future at Inter will have a huge bearing on the future of the club’s star players, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As per Tuttosport’s print edition, Inter’s players are anxiously awaiting the outcome of today’s meeting between Conte, Steven Zhang and club directors to work out what the Nerazzurri’s future looks like.

If Conte were to leave then many key players could begin listening to offers coming from abroad, most notably Romelu Lukaku.

Inter might also struggle to keep those players to whom they have promised contract extensions, such as Lautaro Martinez, Marcelo Brozovic, Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni.

The Nerazzurri are set for a difficult summer in the transfer market, the Turin-based paper added, in which they will need to sell players before June 30 and reduce their wage bill by 15%.

Conte does not want to leave but he needs reassurance and clarity if he is to remain Inter’s head coach, and the same applies for the club directors such as Beppe Marotta.
