Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen has turned down the invitation from UEFA to attend the Euro 2020 final at Wembley that will be contested tonight by England and Italy, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Danish midfielder has not taken up the opportunity that was presented to him by UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin.

Christian Eriksen’s reasoning behind the decision is not immediately clear but it is assumed that he does not want to jeopardise his health in any way before he links up with the Inter squad next week for medical examinations.

Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch against Finland in Denmark’s opening Euro 2020 game in Copenhagen.

He received CPR on the pitch and was taken to the hospital. That’s where it was announced that he was awake and speaking, much to the relief of the football world.
