Inter forward Alexis Sanchez is expected to be available as early as the Serie A clash with Bologna on September 18, with his recovery from a calf injury progressing well.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Chilean is aiming to return for the Sampdoria match this coming weekend but that even if he does not make this target then he could be ready to face Bologna.

Sanchez has been spending the international break training individually to recover from the persistent calf problem, which ruled him out of the Nerazzurri’s first two Serie A matches having also caused him to miss much of the summer including all but 45 minutes of the Copa America with his country.

The end of the process now looks in sight, and the 32-year-old will aim to make his return soon after the break ends and could give coach Simone Inzaghi another option after the Sampdoria clash and the Champions League group stage opener against Real Madrid.
