Inter Owned Valentino Lazaro’s Agent: “Joined Benfica On A 1 Year Loan Without Options Or Obligations”

Max Hagmayr, agent of Inter-owned wing-back Valentino Lazaro, has given updates about the Austrian’s situation.

Speaking to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, Hagmayr explained that Lazaro is on loan with Benfica but that there is no obligation or option for the Portuguese giants to buy him on a permanent basis.

Lazaro joined Benfica on loan towards the end of the transfer window, with the 25-year-old having been out of favour at Inter and in search of a new club for much of the window.

In the end, it was the Lisbon-based side who won the chase for his signature, but as his agent explains there was no shortage of clubs who were looking to sign the wing-back in spite of the fact that there was no place for him with the Nerazzurri.

Of the process to negotiate the move to Benfica, Hagmayr explained that “It wasn’t easy, there were two other clubs interested in the player plus Borussia Dortmund. We had to and wanted to make the best decision for Tino – he wanted to play, especially in a team that participates in the Champions League where he could prove his qualities again. I would say that Benfica is a more than appropriate choice.”

He went on that “When we signed for the Nerazzurri we were convinced he could do very well in Milan. Then, after only six months, he went away on loan, and then again the following year. In his head there is still the belief that he is an Inter player.”

“Let’s leave the past aside and look at the present. Now it all depends on how Tino plays for Benfica,” he said of his client.

Of the formula for the transfer of Lazaro to Benfica, Hagmayr explained that “It is a one-year dry loan with no obligation or option.”

On Lazaro’s feelings about joining Benfica he stated, “Inter are a top club, but the same goes for Benfica as well. He will play in a competitive league and in the Champions League. So it’s fine.”

“We’re think positively,” he concluded. “Tino will do everything to play and give his best. Benfica have been following him since he was 16-17. They had tried to loan him in last year as well. So there is certainly a sense of positivity.”
