Italian lawyer Erich Grimaldi has requested that the Italian FA make the audio recordings of the VAR room from Inter’s clash with Juventus on Sunday evening be made available.
This according to Italian news outlet Gonfialarete, who report that the lawyer has made the request to observe the decision-making around the penalty awarded to the Bianconeri late in the match and ensure that no involvement came from the club to influence the decision.
The penalty which saw Juventus take a point from the match having been behind for much of the game following an early Edin Dzeko goal caused controversy with the Inter players and staff.
The challenge by Denzel Dumfries which made contact with the foot of Alex Sandro had been seen by the referee who initially waved play on and indicated that there had not been enough in it to award a penalty.
However, the VAR advised him to take another look at the incident, and on further inspection he decided to award the spot kick.
Grimaldi wants to hear the audio of the decision-making process in the VAR room that led to the decision to give the penalty to ensure that nothing untoward went into the process.
