Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is hoping to have three of his defenders back in action for the visit to AS Roma on Saturday evening, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Inter have something of an emergency in defence right now with players affected by both injury and illness.

Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij has been out since the last international break but the coach is hopeful that he will be fit enough to play a role from the start against the Giallorossi at the Stadio Olimpico.

Alessandro Bastoni was absent against Spezia on Wednesday as he has contracted gastroenteritis but there is a chance he will recover in time.

Aleksander Kolarov has been absent from the team through injury but he may return in time. As for Andrea Ranocchia and Matteo Darmian, they will not be fit enough to return.
