Italian journalist Giovanni Capuano feels that former Inter striker has harmed his reputation with both Nerazzurri and Chelsea fans with recent remarks about regretting having moved from the former to the latter over the summer.
Tweeting about the striker’s comments, Capuano gave the view that the Belgian striker has committed “career suicide” by admitting to being unhappy with his new club while also not impressing fans of his former team.
Lukaku’s move to Chelsea rocked Inter over the summer, and while the team has recovered from his departure on the pitch, many fans still have mixed feelings about him following his exit.
In a candid recent interview with Sky Sport Italia, the 28-year-old admitted that he feels regret over the circumstances of his exit in the summer.
However, Capuano feels that this will not repair the Belgian’s relationship with Inter supporters, while he has also made the situation with Chelsea fans very tense.
He wrote, “Lukaku’s interview was career suicide, managing to create difficulties at his current club Chelsea, and to take a the repudiation of his former fans at Inter.”
“So suicidal that it seems he must be sincere,” he added, “because if he had been trying to manipulate then he would hardly have exposed himself to this backlash.”
