A very important game for Inter where Inter had to win to prove that they wanted to keep on fighting for a spot in the Champions League. Inter responds with an amazing first half at the Friuli-Stadium against Udinese. Maybe not so spectacular in the second half where Inter let Udinese control the game, but Inter did show some quality in defense. A secure win for the Nerazzurri and now, Inter are standing steady with a lot of confidence ahead of the next four, rather easy, games against Livorno, Bologna, Sampdoria and Parma.

First and foremost, Ricky Alvarez is without question one of the most important players for Inter. A lot of Inter-fans likes Ricky Alvarez behind Palacio in the role as a trequartista, but I do prefer him a bit further down the pitch as a mezz’ala. Mainly because Ricky has proven to be helpful in defense and he’s got a very nice passing foot. Just look at the pass to Palacio who could’ve led to the first goal of the game.

You do get a bit stunned when Inter all of a sudden starts scoring from set pieces. Corners and freekicks turns into goals. A rather nice development since you last year saw a corner as a the goalkeepers ball. I don’t know if it’s because of Walter Mazzarri’s training or development from the players, hopefully a combination of the two.

Finaly, I just want to comment on how sad it is to see that Walter Samuel’s days in Inter are coming to an end. I think we’ll all have to face the fact that Samuels body might no longer be fit to play football at the top. Of course, I hope I’m wrong, but it seems more and more likely after every injury.
