Legendary former Inter midfeidler Nicola Berti feels that the Nerazzurri will triumph in this evening’s Coppa Italia semi-final second leg clash with AC Milan, but that it won’t be easy.
Speaking to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, Berti gave the prediction that his old side would win the match by a narrow margin, but that they would have to suffer through it.
The Nerazzurri will face the Rossoneri for a place in the Coppa Italia, and they come into the match having failed to beat their city rivals at the first three times of asking this season.
Two draws and a loss have clearly demonstrated that Milan are a tough opponent for the Nerazzurri, although all three have been tightly-contested affairs.
For Berti, this evening’s match will follow a similar pattern, but he is optimistic that this time around they will finally get the win they’ve been seeking right when they need it most.
Berti predicted an “Open game, we will have to suffer. But in the end we’ll get through with a 2-1 win.”
“And I see a flash of Dumfries,” he went on, “who must get back that goal he had ruled out in the league for a millimetre offside by Perisic.”
“This derby will matter a lot,” he added. “Not only because there is a place at stake in the final of the Coppa Italia, but the psychological aspect will also be fundamental in the final stretch in the league.”
