Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has said that he is satisfied with the victory over a strong Juventus side in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday night, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media last night.
Speaking to Sky Sport after the game, via FCInternews, the coach revealed that he was calm throughout the match despite the fact that Inter always needed to be on their toes.
“I was calm. Against a strong team like Juve you always have to be on the ball, even when you score two goals. A victory that was sought and wanted. I’m very pleased.”
He then explained that Juventus are a strong side that are well-coached by Massimiliano Allegri, which is why he is so satisfied with the 4-2 victory in extra time.
“We faced a very strong team and very well-coached. I’m very satisfied, it’s the second trophy of the season.
“I know what our path has been and where we started from. Along the way we played very good football. The goals have risen over time. Now we have the last two league games and let’s see what happens.”
Simone Inzaghi also suggested that the Nerazzurri have surpassed their targets for the season by winning two trophies, something that he is very proud of.
“The objectives on 8 July were what they were. We went beyond that. We won two cups that had been missing here for more than ten years. I am very satisfied for the club, the team and the fans who have always accompanied us. It is always a great emotion to win trophies.”
Inter took an early lead in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday night through Nicolo Barella but two quick goals in the second half meant they were 2-1 down. Goals from Hakan Calhanoglu and Ivan Perisic secured a 4-2 win.
