Inter’s Plan A for the rest of the summer transfer window is to keep hold of Milan Skriniar and then make one more signing to complete their defensive options.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri will target a low-cost defensive signing to add depth, unless Skriniar is to be sold in which case they will look to invest €20-30 million in a direct replacement.
After much anticipation that Skriniar could be sold to Paris Saint-Germain, the Parisians now look to have cooled their interest as they’re unwilling to meet Inter’s asking price.
The Nerazzurri would be happy to keep Skriniar in their squad following a failure to sign Torino’s Bremer, and this would be by far the preference of coach Simone Inzaghi.
The Slovakian staying would not mean that another defender would not be sold, but the plan would be to sign a defender at a low cost to take the place of Andrea Ranocchia in their squad.
However, if Skriniar were to be on his way after all, €20-30 million would immediately go towards replacing him, with Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji and Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic the likeliest candidates.
