Inter defender Milan Skriniar made clear to the Nerazzurri that he wants to stay, and could be offered the captain’s armband as part of an incentive to remain on a new deal.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports on his homepage that the Nerazzurri will hold further meetings in the coming days to try and negotiate the details of a contract extension for the 27-year-old.

Inter met with Skriniar and his representatives today, and the player made clear that he has a desire to stay at the club.

However, there is some distance to be made up between the club and player regarding the wages that he would be offered on a new deal.

Future meetings are planned to iron out the details of a potential contract extension.

Skriniar could be offered a long-term contract extension with a significant increase in wages as an incentive to stay.

Moreover, Di Marzio reports, the Nerazzurri could offer to make the Slovakian captain on a permanent basis if he is to sign a new deal.

Skriniar has captained the Nerazzurri in their past several matches whilst current permanent captain Samir Handanovic has been on the bench.
