Italian journalist Luca Marchetti does not expect that there is any possibility of a new contract for Inter defender Milan Skriniar containing a release clause.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, via FCInterNews, the journalist explained that while he had at one point suggested that a release clause could be on the table, there is nothing to indicate that this is actually the case.
The negotiations between Inter and Skriniar are characterized by the fact that, if Skriniar were to sign a new deal, he would be committing a significant part of his future for the Nerazzurri.
Given that the Slovakian is 27 years old, there could be some reflection on whether he wants to stay at Inter, or to try out a new adventure at another team before it is too late.
A release clause could be one way to give Skriniar a way to sign a new deal without feeling that he is committing his future for good, but Marchetti doesn’t expect that this is actually on the table.
“The situation is still being clarified,” the journalist explained.
“I never said that Skriniar would extend his contract with a release clause,” he continued, “I only said that given the love between Skriniar and Inter, a new deal with a release clause was one idea to be considered, but it was absolutely not an option on the table.”
Marchetti continued that “Right now there are two options, namely to extend or not extend.”
