Italian journalist Fabio Caressa has praised Inter striker Lautaro Martinez and suggested that his goal celebration signifies his anger and determination on the pitch.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Caressa provided a rundown of his favourite goal celebrations in Serie A and included Martinez’s hand gesture that was reminiscent of bull horns.

Caressa argued that Martinez had the right level of anger on the pitch and his desire to lead Inter from the front was behind his 12 league goals so far this season, with the former Racing Club striker rarely showing happiness on the pitch unless he has found the net.

“This is one of Lautaro’s rare smiles, which he usually doesn’t even do after goals. He always has this pissed off, or rather serious face, and I really like it,” Caressa claimed.

“I also like the gesture, which is a bit reminiscent of the bull’s horns, although that’s not the origin of the celebration.”

Meanwhile, Caressa claimed that Martinez’s development since arriving at Inter in 2018 was significant and that he was one of the most important players in Serie A, even when going through goal droughts.

“It is a moderate but meaningful celebration. I like Lautaro for the way he celebrates, I also really like his simplicity on the pitch and I’m enjoying him as he grows in our league, regardless of the periods without a goal, that doesn’t interest me,” he added.

Martinez has scored 89 goals in 211 appearances in all competitions for Inter, helping them to the Serie A title in 2021 and the Coppa Italia last year.
