Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana has clarified that he and striker Edin Dzeko have a good relationship despite their argument with one another on the pitch during yesterday evening’s Champions League clash with Porto.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Amazon Prime after the match, via FCInterNews, the 26-year-old made clear that, as with the similar incident between Nicolo Barella and Romelu Lukaku last week against Sampdoria, there was nothing in the incident between he and Dzeko.

Dzeko made his frustration clear at Onana over what he saw as a missed pass in the first half, and the goalkeeper didn’t hesitate to defend himself.

For a moment, the pair were not hiding their frustration with one another.

However, from the keeper’s perspective, it was just a flare-up on the pitch, and it doesn’t change the fact that they respect one another and have a good relationship off the pitch as well.

“They are things that happen during matches, everyone thinks that they’re right,” Onana said of the moment with Dzeko.

“But it’s positive because everyone wants what’s best for the team, I have a good relationship with him,” he added.

“Disagreements are good for understanding each other better,” the Cameroonian noted, “in that moment Dzeko thought I should’ve done one thing, and I thought differently.”

“And then if you compared it to Lukaku and Barella, they’re great friends so there’s nothing to talk about,” he stressed.
