Inter will have a real “trial by fire” when they return from the international break at the start of next month, as they are set for three consecutive away matches across three competitions in the space of one week.
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note that the Nerazzurri’s away form will be put to the test with clashes against Juventus, Salernitana, and Benfica.
Inter will play at the San Siro in their first match back from the international break, as they host Fiorentina at the start of April.
However, the next match will be away to Juventus in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal tie.
Then, a trip to Campania to face Salernitana will see the Nerazzurri come face to face with their recent struggles to win against “smaller” teams away from the San Siro, in a match that they can hardly afford to drop points.
Finally, the Nerazzurri will have to travel to Portugal for the second time in the space of just a few weeks, to face Benfica at the Estadio da Luz.
If Inter can use these matches as an opportunity to get past their rickety away form, they will have taken big steps forward towards several of their objectives for the season.
However, doing so will be nothing less than a “trial by fire.”
