Man United will have to sort out the situation with goalkeeper David De Gea before they can make a decisive move for Inter Milan’s Andre Onana.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Man United have made clear that they want Onana.

The 27-year-old is the Red Devils’ top target to take the place of current Number One De Gea.

De Gea is out of contract with United at the end of the current month. The Spaniard has reportedly signed a new deal that will see his earnings decreased.

However, United have yet to countersign the keeper’s new deal.

At the centre of the Premier League giants’ reluctance to hand the Spaniard a contract extension are doubts about his ability with the ball at his feet.

United coach Erik Ten Hag is insistent on having a goalkeeper who can participate in buildup play. Accordingly, the Red Devils may not extend De Gea’s contract after all.

Man United Must Address De Gea Situation Before Onana Move Possible

In any event, a move for Onana would only follow a parting of ways with De Gea.

The Red Devils will not keep the Spaniard on and also make a big investment in a starting-quality goalkeeper.

Inter, Tuttosport report, are demanding no less than €50 million for Onana. They aren’t likely to accept any possible bids below this amount.

Therefore, the De Gea situation is key. If United do decline to extend the former Atletico Madrid man’s contract and he leaves Old Trafford, taking his high wages with him, the Red Devils will be in position to launch a big bid for Onana.

In this case, they could move fast.

Inter reportedly want to wrap up any talks for Onana soon. If it’s going to happen, it must happen soon.

However, United still have De Gea’s situation to attend do, which will take some time.
