Inter Milan have at least five more signings to make before the summer transfer window slams shut at the end of next month.
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who suggest that that number could be even higher should any more players depart.
First of all, there is the goalkeeping position.
Departures for both Andre Onana and Samir Handanovic mean that the Nerazzurri must sign a couple of keepers.
Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Anatoliy Trubin are on the docket to replace the pair. But if the Nerazzurri fail to get deals for both done, then they’ll have to consider alternative targets.
Then, there is the question of the midfield.
With Roberto Gagliardini out the door to join Monza on a free transfer, the Nerazzurri must sign a player to be the “sixth” midfielder in the depth chart.
Inter’s aim is to sign a player who is young and has potential to grow into the team for the role. Udinese’s Lazar Samardzic is reportedly their top target.
One way or the other, however, the Nerazzurri have to get someone in the door if they don’t want to head into next season with just five senior midfielders.
Striker & Wingback Roles In Flux For Next Season
Inter also have to sign a striker following the soap opera with Romelu Lukaku.
Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun and Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata appear to be the main names on the Nerazzurri’s shortlist.
Another striker could have to come in if Joaquin Correa is to leave. The Argentine is reportedly a target for Saudi Super League outfit Al-Shabab.
Another player who could still leave is Robin Gosens. The German is a target for Wolfsburg. If Inter sell Gosens, they will certainly replace him.
And last of all, the Nerazzurri still have not found a replacement for Milan Skriniar.
All in all, therefore, the final few weeks of the transfer window will undoubtedly be busy ones for Inter.
