Ajax director Michel Kreek feels that midfielder Davy Klaassen can be perfect for Simone Inzaghi and Inter Milan’s style of football.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Cronache di Spogliatoio, via FCInterNews, the scouting network director with the Dutch giants gave his thoughts on Klaassen’s surprise deadline day transfer to the Nerazzurri.

Inter’s last signing of the summer transfer window came in the form of Dutch international Klaassen.

The 30-year-old former Werder Bremen and Everton man joined on a free transfer from Ajax.

Inter have, for all intents and purposes, signed Klaassen to beef up their midfield depth for the season. The Nerazzurri were able to negotiate a free transfer with Ajax for the Dutchman, and identified him as a suitable profile.

There were some other names on Inter’s list of possible targets – for example, Tottenham Hotspur’s Tanguy Ndombele.

But for his part, Ajax director Kreek feels that Klaassen is a signing who will fit in very well at Inter.

Kreek: Davy Klaassen Perfect For Inzaghi & Inter Milan

Kreek joked about Klaassen that “At Ajax, we called him Mr. 1-0 because he unlocks important matches.”

“He has great flexibility, and is very good at running into space,” Kreek explained. “I think that he’ll be an ideal player for Inzaghi’s style of football.”

“In Italy he’ll have to make a name for himself in a midfield that’s already crowded. There are great players, and great locker room guys behind the scenes.”

“But the conditions are certainly in place for him to be another great piece adding something new to the Nerazzurri midfield,” Kreek continued.

Klaassen has joined Inter on a one-year contract with the option of an additional season.

The Dutchman was already on the bench for the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Fiorentina last weekend. He could potentially make his debut in the Milan derby after the international break.
