The agent of striker Lautaro Martinez has confirmed that contract extension talks have begun with Inter Milan.
Speaking to Italian news outlet FCInter1908, the Argentine’s agent Alejandro Camano also explained that he feels the Nerazzurri are the perfect place for the 26-year-old, who is currently the club’s captain.
As things stand, Martinez’s contract with Inter runs out at the end of June 2026.
The former Racing Club striker signed his current deal during the fall of 2021.
There may not be any panic to extend Martinez’s deal. But by all accounts, Inter want to do so sooner rather than later.
The Argentine has become a hugely important player for the Nerazzurri in his five seasons and counting at the club. This season he has begun wearing the captain’s armband.
Martinez has been Inter’s top scorer in each of the past two seasons.
And considering that the striker has already found the back of the net ten times this season, it seems likely that he will do so again.
There has also been persistent transfer interest in Martinez. The likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur have all targeted the Inter striker in the past couple transfer windows.
Barcelona and Manchester City have also chased Martinez during his time at the Nerazzurri.

Regarding the possibility of a contract extension for Martinez, the player’s agent Camano updated that “We’re working on it.”
“But I can confirm that he’s happy at Inter and doesn’t want to leave this great club,” he continued.
As to why Martinez feels that way, Camano said that “It’s not any one thing.”
“He’s happy and exactly where he wants to be, and part of an Inter project that’s very ambitious,” the agent continued.
“He has a brilliant relationship with his teammates and with the coaching staff.”
“Ultimately, he’s part of a high-level, long-term project at one of the biggest clubs in Europe,” Camano made clear. “And he’s also very happy in his private life, with his wonderful family.”
