Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez says he’s focusing on the Supercoppa Italiana, not Juventus or his contract extension.

The 26-year-old spoke in a press conference ahead of tomorrow evening’s Supercoppa final against Napoli, as reported by FCInterNews.

There is no shortage of potential distractions for Inter ahead of tomorrow’s match.

Naturally, the biggest one may be the Serie A title race with Juventus. Inter have a slender advantage at the top of the table, but can feel the Bianconeri breathing down their necks.

The two teams at the top of the table meet at the start of next month.

The pressure is high as the Nerazzurri look to win the Serie A title for the first time since the 2020-21 season.

Then there is the matter of the Champions League.

Inter take on the Champions League in the round of sixteen of a competition that they reached the final of last month.

And then there are off-the-pitch matters.

Reports have suggested that a contract extension for Inter’s captain Martinez is not far away.

But all of that is the future, however, close. And for the Argentine, the present is tomorrow’s final against reigning Italian champions Napoli.

Lautaro Martinez: Not Thinking About Juventus Or Contract Extension, Just Supercoppa

Asked if he was thinking about Juventus, Martinez replied “Why would I? About Juve?”

“I’m thinking about our match tomorrow,” the Inter captain said.

“For us, the trophy at stake tomorrow is an important objective for our season.”

“We need to recover our energy and focus on Napoli,” Martinez continued.

And as far as his prospective contract extension, Martinez said that “I don’t know.”

“We and the club are working on it. I’m happy here, but I’m focused on tomorrow’s match.”

Martinez added that “And then I’m thinking about returning home to my children.”

Of the idea that Inter are playing “fun” football, the Nerazzurri captain said that “I think it’s an important word, because it’s how we were when we were kids playing football.”

“And we’re like kids again,” Martinez continued. “We have fun on the pitch.”

“It feels like we’re playing with our friends,” the Inter captain went on.

“Because that’s what we do. We’re all rowing in the same direction.”

Martinez said that “The results are also arriving, that has be an incentive to continue doing what we’re doing.”
