Veteran midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is getting back to his best, once again proving a key player for Inter Milan.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

So far this season, Mkhitaryan has started all seven of Inter’s matches in Serie A.

The Armenian has played a total of 620 minutes for the Nerazzurri, excluding injury time.

Tuttosport note that there are just three players who have played more for Inter thus far in the season. Those are Yann Sommer, Alessandro Bastoni, and Francesco Acerbi.

And unlike those three, Mkhitaryan plays in a position that requires constant running.

The former Arsenal and Roma midfielder covers more ground than just about any in the Inter team.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan Getting Back To His Best For Inter Milan

It is not surprising to see Mkhitaryan play this much for Inter.

Even at the age of 35, he is a player who Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi relies on to provide both energy and technical ability, not to mention experience and tactical intelligence.

That has been the case almost since Mkhitaryan joined Inter in 2022.

But considering the Armenian’s age, there has been a bit of a doubt as to whether or not it would remain the case for too much longer.

And some of Mkhitaryan’s performances early on in the season gave credence to the idea that the veteran midfielder’s powers might be starting to wane.

There is also the fact that the one match in which Mkhitaryan did not start was against Manchester City in the Champions League.

The 35-year-old did come off the bench in that match. But it was Piotr Zielinski – a natural successor to Mkhitaryan in the lineup – who got the nod from the start.

However, Inzaghi has continued to put his trust in Mkhitaryan in the league.

And over the last couple of matches, that trust has really begun to pay off.

Mkhitaryan’s display against Torino over the weekend was arguably his best of the season to date.

The 35-year-old showed how important he is to balancing the midfield trio in Inter’s 3-5-2 formation.
