The future of Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries could be resolved by the end of July, with Premier League duo Newcastle United and Aston Villa vying for him, as well as Barcelona.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, and via FCInterNews.it, the Netherlands international has a release clause in his contract that expires at the end of the month and a departure could be finalised in the coming days.
Indeed, Barcelona are already in talks with Dumfries’ representatives, namely father Boris and brother Donovan, with the pair actively floating his availability for transfer around.
The La Liga champions have appointed noted agent Jorge Mendes to negotiate on their behalf in order to secure the former PSV Eindhoven man.
However, Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also keen on bringing Dumfries to England, as they push for Champions League qualification.
Neither side have made a formal bid yet but may press ahead in order to take advantage of the release clause in the Dutchman’s contract.
Dumfries joined Inter from PSV in 2021 and has made 179 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals.
Seriously whoever agreed to this release clause should be fired…
That being said, in the words of a great GREAT man.
“Whoever wants to leave, should leave!”
no, his contract was supposed to expire this summer and he didnt want to renew, so he agree to renew contract only if released clause of 25mln is included, if we havent do it, he would have left for free
Villa and Newcastle are realistic options (Barca and City- Denzel is dreaming!!) so Dumfries would have to ask himself if he wants to play for a European Giant and compete for trophies, or does he want a few extra million quid in wages…. Don’t really care either way- as good a season as he had last year, he is a good player- not a great one- and is replaceable….
I agree , otherwise I don’t believe any team thinks Dumfries is worth 25 mil one time payment. it also seems that inter ain’t entirely concerned about him leaving
if he is gone, he is gone, neither Newcastle or Aston Villa are superior teams, but they can offer bigger salary that he wanted at first place, thats why there is a low release clause, because we didnt want to give him 5 mln salary, but having in mind that zielinski is on 5 mln salary and do nothing is reasonable, why he is pissed
We are a top 10 club and we pay like a top 10 club.. Newcastle and Aston villa don’t pay more than us.. I give an example… Alexander Isak the Newcastle star in on 7mil net a season while Lautaro is on 9
