Inter Milan are set to miss out on the signature of Genoa defender Koni De Winter, with AC Milan closing in on a deal.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.
AC Milan have competed a deal to sell defender Malick Thiaw to Newcastle United.
The Rossoneri will receive a fee of around €40 million for the former Schalke defender.
And with that cash, Milan are ready to go out and sign a replacement.
According to Sky Sport Italia, meanwhile, Milan will target a player who has long been of interest to their city rivals Inter Milan.
Inter Miss Out – Koni De Winter Set To Join AC Milan

Genoa defender Koni De Winter has been a target for Inter Milan for months now.
Reportedly, the Nerazzurri have been eyeing the Belgian up as an ideal replacement in the event that either Yann Bisseck or Benjamin Pavard leave.
However, Inter’s city rivals Milan also see De Winter as a perfect replacement for Thiaw.
And with the 24-year-old German international now on his way to Newcastle. The Rossoneri have the cash to move for De Winter.
Therefore, Sky Sport Italia, Milan are moving quickly.
And this will mean that Inter are back to square one as far as one of their key fallback options.
If the Nerazzurri are to sell either Pavard or Bisseck, they must identify a different replacement.
i always hate goals conceded during pre-seasons, because it mostly resulted in our defense was not strong enough during on-going season. this should be our main concern.
funny thing… Genoa wanted 25-30mlns for Koni de Winter from us and yet they sold him for 20mlns to Milan :D:D:D:D everyone is milking us, because we are ”Manchester united” of Italy :D:D:D:D:D:D
Genoa are another bunch of kunts we shouldn’t do any future business with!! Benchods!!!
This what happens when its been over 4 weeks and been staring at lookman not making a new offer
so what he isnt in our shortlist anyway
good for us that mean leoni is ours as milan dosent have money anymore to buy more players
as a Milan supporter, I am so happy that we didn’t pay $40 mill ++ for leoni, that young player who played less than 20 serie a matches. From my observation, in my opinion leoni is crap and he may be better suited for inter or another team… might even be best for leoni to stay at parma to continue learning and gaining experience. A positive thing I liked about leoni was his large frame and potential for positive growth. I honestly would take him only if he costed $8 million and no more than that. Even $20 million is too high of a price for a player who played less than 20 serie a games. I actually preferred De Winter over Leoni, because he has more experience and present ability.
I mean, I’m disappointed, but all I’ve seen is people whinging about De Winter not being very good, so it’s funny to see people whinging now that we didn’t get him.
Either way, we MUST sign a CCB.
We should be focusing on buying a defender yet, we are over 4 weeks in Lookman where Atalanta clearly does not want to sell to us.
all this Lookman saga is a click bate to keep fans busy. Finally they will say .”..well we tried , you saw, but it didnt happen. anyway our team is complete and no money will be spent”
If we don’t sign leoni it would be a shame. I would even keep acerbi and de vrij and buy leoni and loan back to Parma until next season.
Our transfer season have been disappointing. We still got asllani in the team too smh
Positive note. No more Correa. That has to count for something right?
yeah, but i dont think taremi is an upgrade, so its not really chance much.
At one side i’m glad we didn’t buy, cause he isn’t that good, even in Italy there are better options (Vasquez and Solet). At the other i’m pissed that we can’t finish a single deal for over a month.
