Davide Frattesi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be key players in facilitating Inter Milan’s switch to a 3-4-2-1 shape under Cristian Chivu.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Reportedly, coach Cristian Chivu wants to change the formation at Inter Milan.
The Nerazzurri have been playing with a 3-5-2 shape for the last six seasons. That is the formation that both Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi exclusively used.
However, Chivu wants to freshen things up with some new tactical ideas.
The Club World Cup provided a preview of the Romanian’s new formation.
Chivu wants an extra player staying up and supporting the attack. Therefore, he is keen to use a 3-4-2-1 system.
Frattesi & Mkhitaryan Key In Inter Switch To 3-4-2-1 Shape

In the view of the Corriere dello Sport, two midfielders could have important roles in Inter moving to a 3-4-2-1 formation.
Firstly, there is veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan. He has been a starter for Inter for three seasons now, but in a midfield trio.
For much of his career, however, Mkhitaryan has played as a winger or attacking midfielder.
Therefore, the Armenian certainly knows how to provide the final pass. This will make him an important player in adding some creativity to the Inter frontline.
Then, midfielder Davide Frattesi has always been prolific in terms of goals. He is a player who knows how to attack the penalty area.
Therefore, the 3-4-2-1 shape could be the perfect showcase for Frattesi’s best qualities.
Micky is the lubricant of the team, both on and off the pitch. He’s a role model for his teammates
Miki should not start. period.
One of the things he is terrible at is providing the final pass. It is always slightly behind the player, or even at the player when it should be in front of him, or, he overcooks it and it leads the player too far wide. It’s a joke and I wish I cared enough to make a compilation of the amount of times he fails to make the final pass, most of the time simple passes. He has no business being on inter, and I’m not talking about now, but even three years ago when he somehow managed to play in a champions league final. Inter fans love him because he runs a lot and he’s “reliable.” The reality is he is not a player suitable for a top team. That’s how we were able to get him at 34(!) years old from ROMA. Come on man…
Are you currently employed by BP or some sort of gas/oil companies ?
If there’s one thing that we need this season, it’s that the words ‘Key player’ and ‘Miki’ are not used in the same sentence!!! Enough already!!! Just retire, FFS!!!
It’s not like Miki is the reason for not winning anything last season.
Many people here belive this is some kind of FC25, 26 or any edition of Fifa, where you need just players of 22-28 years old.
Having a player like Miki on the bench is good. Not a starter, but as a bench player he is better than many other options we got. Many other teams have such players in their squad.
The transition cannot be made in 1 year – you cannot buy half of squad and change everything instantly and expect to win everything, just see other big teams.
i agree 100%. Not only Mikki, I would like to know why we keep Darmian, Acerbi and Sommer? Teams in Italy needs to know, the same they take with veterans is the same you take with proven yiung players. Why not taking with Stankovic and Martinez?
shut up kid, team with only young player is 99% doom to failed. If they proven, they will play in starting ix immedietly, but you see they arent, why? coz they are nlt good enough. as simple as that.
also, they need leadership or elderly figure to slap their head to do the right thing. and its better come from player.
And yet he’s this biggest issue on our squad. Ever since his game in the first champions league game against Man City when he should of been subbed out at min 9. This guy has been the biggest wildcard.
