Inter Milan are supposedly on the verge of landing Lens midfielder Andy Diouf, and Paulo Condo argues he’ll have an important role this season.

The Nerazzurri have had a relatively quiet summer transfer market, but have at least managed to recruit younger players. They brought in Ange Bonny from Parma to bolster their attack, in addition to Petar Sucic and Luis Henrique.

Cristian Chivu’s men are currently putting the final touches on their preparations for the new season.

But while the team has turned its attention to the pitch, Beppa Marotta and Piero Ausilio are still busy in the market.

As reported in recent hours, Andy Diouf is now very close to sealing a transfer to Inter.

While the 22-year-old has seemingly emerged out of the blue, sources in the Italian media revealed that the management has been working on this signing for some time, albeit behind the scenes.

Why Andy Diouf Could Be A Starter At Inter Milan

The Frenchman is considered a fallback option for Inter who failed to sign his compatriot Manu Kone from Roma.

Nevertheless, Diouf has also acquired a solid reputation in his home country, especially after joining Lens in 2023. The Neuilly-sur-Sein native made his senior debut for France last summer, and currently has two international caps under his name.

Therefore, Condo believes the young midfielder has what it takes to stake a claim for a starting spot.

The veteran journalist argues that Inter’s ageing squad is in dire need of young blood like Diouf.

“With the change of coach, there was a rather sudden shift in focus,” said Condo during his apperance on Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews.

“Chivu himself is probably completing a screening of this squad and is realizing what this great, aging team really needs.

“Because in my opinion, both “great” and “aged” are two adjectives we need to combine at Inter.

“Therefore, we need to do something different. Diouf could be a starter, because until now, Inter have bought players. However, I don’t see any in the starting lineup.”

The pundit also discussed Kristjan Asllani who is on his way out of Inter. The Albanian will most likely potentially sign for Torino.

“He knows he’s had his opportunity at a big stage and wasted it. nNw he’ll have to make up ground.

“However, he’s moving to a Torino side that’s working well, and I think he’s chosen the right club.”
