Defender Francesco Acerbi remains a key player for Cristian Chivu at Inter Milan, despite his advancing age.
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi turns 38 this season.
Therefore, there was some speculation about whether or not the former Lazio and Sassuolo defender would even stick around this summer.
The Nerazzurri were hardly shy in making this summer one of renewal and refreshing of the team.
That is why the club focused on adding youth into their ranks throughout the transfer window.
Accordingly, there were questions about what kind of a place Acerbi would find.
Acerbi Still Key For Chivu At Inter Despite Age

However, coach Cristian Chivu has so far trusted Acerbi every bit as much as former coach Simone Inzaghi has.
The 37-year-old has started both of Inter’s Serie A matches so far.
It looks clear that Chivu still sees Acerbi’s experience and marking ability as crucial characteristics in the middle of the back three.
Perhaps over the course of the season, the Romanian will finally begin to phase Acerbi out.
But for now, the Italian international’s age is nothing but a number.
Then, the Gazzetta note, at the end of the season Inter can make a decision about what the future holds.
I think we sign a young defender like Raul asencio or Micky van de ven
He’s a smart defender, but he’s just too slow now.
we keep telling ourself this bullshit but
a pacey dribbling attacker who have d skill n boom he is of no use ( no disrespect acerbi ) cos he can’t catch up with him
we need a defender in d nxt transfer window , Solet is me ideal option
he’s a CB in a 3 man defense and you think this is video game where every speedster would through the defense. there’s no goddamn way a pacey striker will outpace him unless it’s a winger. and you must know there aren’t many pacey strikers or wingers, but skilful ones. he’s more than just experienced player so he knows how to stop them. it’s just matter of his teammates positioning. unless we find someone who’s as good as bastoni, I’d never see anyone to replace his spot. he’s still reliable and consistent. meanwhile player who’s much younger like bisseck that has stamina and better build makes countless mistakes than him that cost inter points.
think before you speak, kid
