Retired Italian defender Lele Adani insists that Inter Milan boast the strongest squad in Serie A, which makes them the target of scathing criticism.

The Nerazzurri currently sit at the top of the Serie A table with 33 points from 15 matches. And yet, many would argue they could have been in a much more comfortable spot. However, they have often failed to achieve a result in their direct clashes against fellow big teams.

While Cristian Chivu’s men have been merciless against smaller opposition, their record against the big boys has been abysmal.

Inter managed to beat Roma, but suffered defeat to Juventus, Napoli and AC Milan. Moreover, they were knocked out of the semi-final of the Italian Super Cup at the hands of Bologna after spot-kicks.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see how the Beneamata will fare in the next contest against a revitalised Atalanta side. The clash will take place in Bergamo on December 28, and it will be their last in 2025.

The Nerazzurri will then take on Bologna and Parma in their first two fixtures in 2026, before the big one against Napoli.

Lele Adani Urges Inter Milan To Do More In Direct Clashes

Back to Adani, he believes that he and the other pundits have been ruthless with Inter because they all consider the team the best in Italy.

“The fact that Inter is the strongest team in Italy is a shared opinion; it’s something that unites everyone,” argued the former Inter defender in his appearance on Viva el Futbol (via FcInterNews).

“That’s why we demand more from Inter, it’s almost natural.”

Adani also believes that the Nerazzurri should ask more of themselves after losing so many direct clashes.

“Inter loses against the big teams, they have lost many direct clashes and many finals. I saw little of what I expected, the analysis must be a bit more ruthless with those who have more.”

“You have to be strict, and I think the players themselves are strict with themselves. If they weren’t, it would be a problem.”

“There are many strong players in the squad… They are still strong, but unfinished because they don’t collect what is attributed to them as values.”
