Juventus icon Claudio Marchisio admires the work conducted by Cristian Chivu since taking over at Inter Milan.
After four memorable campaigns, the Nerazzurri parted ways with Simone Inzaghi.
The Italian manager decided to accept a lucrative offer to coach Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal.
With Inzaghi gone, Beppe Marotta and Piero Auselio resorted to a familiar replacement in the shape of Chivu.
At the time, a large section of fans and pundits expressed their concern over the choice.
After all, appointing a relatively inexperienced manager is considered a major gamble for a European giant. But much like playing with live dealer online casino WinSpirit, the risk could yield enticing rewards, and this has arguably been the case with Chivu’s appointment as well.
Needless to say, Inter’s European campaign has been vastly disappointing. The club crashed out of the Champions League after suffering two humbling defeats to Bodo/Glimt in the play-off round.
Nevertheless, Inter have been dominating the Italian landscape, similar to what they did under Inzaghi during the 2023/24 campaign, when they strolled towards a historic 20th Scudetto title.
Inter already enjoy a 10-point lead over their closest chasers, AC Milan. The two rivals are preparing to lock horns on Sunday, and all observers agree that a Nerazzurri victory would effectively place the final nail in the coffin of the title race.
Claudio Marchisio Impessed By Inter Milan Coach Cristian Chivu
Ahead of the Derby della Madonnina, Claudio Marchisio believes Inter will be the more serene side thanks to their sizable advantage in the league standings.
“I expect an exciting match, one that Inter will be able to play with more serenity compared to Milan,” said the retired midfielder during his appearance on Sportitalia via FcInterNews.
“It will be a spectacular evening because both teams arrive well for this appointment.”
On a related note, Marchisio praises Chivu, who has been able to fill the gap caused by Inzaghi’s departure.
“I was surprised by Cristian Chivu, not because I didn’t believe in his qualities, but because it’s never easy to replace a coach after so many years.
“He has responded well, and he deserves credit for bringing his ideas and his style of play to an Inter side that was already strong. The results speak for him.”
The Romanian manager spent years coaching in Inter’s academy. His first managerial role on the senior level saw him guide Parma towards safety after taking charge of the team in th final months of the previous campaign.
