Inter president Giuseppe Marotta has underlined Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s importance to the club, expressing his hope that the Turkish midfielder will remain an Inter player for many years.
Speaking to Turkish broadcaster TRT Spor after the draw for Inter’s 2026/27 Champions League opponents, according to Tribuna.com, Marotta was asked about the playmaker’s future. He described Çalhanoğlu as a highly valuable player for Inter and said he hoped to see him continue in the Nerazzurri shirt for years to come.

The remarks stop short of confirming a new agreement. Çalhanoğlu’s current contract expires in 2027, and Marotta’s comments represent support for the midfielder rather than an announcement of a renewal.
Contract Situation Still Undefined
Interest from Turkish media reflects the long-running association between Çalhanoğlu and a possible return to his home country in the latter stages of his career. The midfielder’s contract has not yet been renewed, leaving his longer-term future at Inter unresolved.
Inter are expected to keep the possibility of a renewal under consideration, but no fresh terms have been confirmed. Marotta’s message nevertheless reinforces Çalhanoğlu’s standing at the club as the contract situation remains open.
