Frank de Boer saw Inter’s 2-0 victory over Celtic in Limerick on Saturday. The match was his first match in charge of Inter. He said the following to the Sky Sports UK:

“I am happy and not so much because of the result but for the way we played on the field. The players tried their very best, played with intensity, and sought to put into practice what I had asked of them. We scored two great goals, tried many things that we had practiced before, but, most importantly, the team stayed compact.

“While I am happy with the result, I know that the most important game would be against Chievo next week. It is the most important match because the first league match is always one of the trickiest. We have a week to prepare for the match against Chievo. And we will improve every week.

“[Mauro] Icardi will stay with us as he is a very important member of the team.”
