In an interview with Inter Channel, the Nerazzurri’s interim coach Stefano Vecchi explained that things just aren’t going his side’s way at the moment.
“The game started with the right attitude, then the first gross mistake cost us. At the break I changed something to get more attention in behind and a man closer to Icardi,” Vecchi said.
“In the first half we got so many balls in the area, but few players were in the box to finish them. Unfortunately we need to limit the mistakes and make more of our chances in the last third.”
Vecchi then spoke about the double change that he made at the break and said why he made those changes.
“We went to 4-2-3-1 with Eder behind Icardi. We made many crosses and we needed a man in behind and with no coincidence he scored a goal. He also had two opportunities to get the equaliser. The performance and the desire were of a team that went down on the pitch with dignity at an uncomfortable time.”
Lastly, the temporary coach discussed how he thought his side ended the game.
“It’s been a long time, but not enough. Today’s episodes are for their skill and our own fault that the three points went to Sassuolo. But that’s what happens when there is a negative environment where everything is going against you.”
