The last few days of the Alessio Cerci transfer saga have been frantic to say the least. The Italian international seemed destined to join the Nerazzurri following interest from the club in recent months. Yesterday, it suddenly seemed as if Milan had won the Cerci race when the Rossoneri offered Fernando Torres to Atletico in exchange for the Italian. However, according to Inside Spanish Football, Atletico de Madrid’s coach, Diego Simeone would prefer if Cerci joins Inter instead of Milan. “El Cholo” played 57 matches for Inter between 1997 and 1999 and wants to aid his former side by preventing Cerci from joining Milan.
Author’s opinion:
The Cerci soap opera has really heated up in recent days between Inter and Milan. I would personally prefer if Inter signed Ivan Perisic or Yevhen Konoplyanka instead of Alessio Cerci. Although Cerci is a proven performer in Serie A, both Perisic and Konoplyanka are first team regulars at Wolfsburg and Dnipro respectively. Alessio Cerci is currently an Atleti benchwarmer and is low on confidence.
