Taking advantage of the international break, Roberto Mancini gave an interview on his official website in which he talked about the transfer market, the brilliant start to the season for his Inter and the forthcoming and highly anticipated Milan derby.

Two wins in the first two rounds of the league: a sprinting start that is good for the morale and the faith of the team?
“It can give more confidence, but in the league the first 6-7 games are always about settling. It ‘important to start well because it acquires confidence, but then you have to keep working hard.”

The transfer market closed with three big signings in the last minute: Ljajic, Felipe Melo Alex Telles. Are youhappy with the operations that were concluded?
“Yes, I am satisfied, given that the transfer market is strange and particular and that you are not always able to achieve all the goals. We did well to manage so many things, we have strengthened the team with good players. Now it is important to put them together.”

Inter has returned to having a competitive average age: it is among the “younger” teams. A clear signal for the future?
“It’s a young team and it was already last year. Inter has an excellent basis for the future, along with some other experienced players I think we can do well.”

Many of the new signings said they chose Inter because it is coached by Mancini and because you “win” with Mancini… What do you think?
“This pleases me, but I chose Inter because it is a big club, a club with a remarkable history. And then you win when you have good players and now we have them, although many have arrived in recent weeks and there is a need to put them together well.”

Several big teams in the league were reinforced during this transfer market window with signings of international level: could this be a sign of the recovery of Italian football?
“Yes, this is important: it is important that the teams have returned to spend. Even though we pass as the team that bought the most players, in fact I think we are at least the fourteenth or fifteenth. Ahead of Inter there are many other clubs who have bought many more players than us, even 13, 14 or 15 signings!”

Dzeko, who you know well, having had him at Manchester City, came to Roma: already against Juventus he showed what he is capable of, can his arrival in Serie A change the balance of the season?
“Edin, to me, is one of the strongest strikers in Europe: I took him to City from Wolfsburg and we did very well. Besides being a good lad, he is a great striker and will score many goals in Italy.”

After the break there is the derby: during the summer you lost two “friendly” derbies, but now the going gets tough: will you beat Milan, not only for supremacy in town, but to give continuity to the first two victories that led Inter to the top of the standings, the only big team in Serie A to do so?
“Mainly to give continuity to the results! It’s a particular game that must be addressed with the right balance and the right mindset. Surely we need to give continuity to the results.”

This year your site and your activities on social networks have received lots of appreciation and are much followed. What were the most positive / negative things or do you have any anecdote to tell.
“At first I was not very practical, now I’m definitely more so. I find the activities on social networks to be a positive experience, it amuses me: I’m glad to read messages from so many fans. I like it least when there are those who insult or express themselves using profanity. The criticism is fine, but you must stay within certain limits, without exaggeration.”

For Christmas you have announced a very interesting project, the launch of an App. What we can anticipate?
“The application will cover the methods of my training and other important things that you will discover later. The release is scheduled in December and January, and I hope it will be useful to both football fans, for which there will be several interesting things, and coaches, to those who work with children and to those who lead the senior teams for which there are so many things to look at and to use.”

What can you say to greet the fans?
“Greetings to all football fans in general. I hope this is a championship where fans can have fun from the first to the last team. And then of course a special greeting to the Inter fans, hoping that they are always close to the team as they have always been.”
