Jonathan Calleri bid farewell to Boca Juniors before he boarded the plane to Brazil where he’ll join up with Sao Paolo for 6 months and revealed his plan was to stay with Boca:

“I told the president Daniel Angelici and Rodolfo Arruabarrena that my intention was to stay. I sat at a table with vice president Juan Carlos Crespi, and he knew exactly what I was thinking. I wanted to play in the Copa Libertadores for Boca, but I have to join Sao Paolo. I am leaving a happy man, like I wanted.  Sao Paolo are another great club that play in the Copa Libertadores, but I had a contract and I wanted to stay. I am happy that I gave my all, and we won two titles. I had some good and not so good matches, but I cannot say I didn’t give my all for this shirt. Boca have given me everything and without them I would not be where I am now.”

The striker was then asked about the possibility of playing in Italy:

“The opportunity came when Inter and Bologna thought about giving me the chance to play in Europe on loan for 6 months, the idea was intriguing. A lot has happened since then, and everyone knows what I think.”
