Inter have moved ahead of Juventus in the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sports Mediaset which was aired a short time ago.

Inter have made contact with the 24-year-old German national team striker’s representatives over a potential move to the club in the coming months.

Werner, who has been one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe in the past few seasons, has a variable release clause in his current contract, the value of which will depend on whether or not RB Leipzig win the Bundesliga title this season.

If RB Leipzig are to win the title, his release clause will be €60 million but if they fail to land Germany football’s top prize then his release clause will be €50 million instead.

This season Werner has made 37 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 27 goals and tallied 12 assists.
