Inter president Steven Zhang has called Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta to congratulate him on completing the sale of Mauro Icardi according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica.

Inter finalised the €57 million, including add-ons, sale of the 27-year-old Argentine to Paris Saint-Germain yesterday and Zhang was quick to congratulate both Marotta and Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio for concluding the deal which ended Icardi’s seven year association with the club.

Almost every single penny of the transfer fee is a capital gain for Inter and Inter could gain even more money from the deal too after Paris Saint-Germain agreed to pay Inter an additional €15 million if they are to sell Icardi to another Italian club in the future.

During his time with Inter, Icardi, who was formerly the captain of the club, made 219 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored 124 goals and tallied 28 assists.
