After the 2-2 draw against AC Milan, Stefano Pioli spoke with Sky: “Unfortunately, when Milan started to put pressure on us we knew it was going to be tough. We gave them too much space, we decided to be more compact. Before their corner we had the chance with Biabiany. Today we lost a win that would have meant a lot for the standings and for the future. We’ve been chasing for six months now and today we could pass Milan after the disappointing game against Crotone, this is not the result we wanted. There are still some games to be played and we have to  give everything we have until the season ends.”

“Why I chose Murillo? They played with four offensive players. We conceded two goals from set pieces today. This was not a tactical substitution that created problems. We were left with two offensive players and had to be compact in the back and try to counter attack.”

“If we could have closed the game earlier? When there was balance we had some counter attacks that could have been more efficient. We gave them some opportunities, but nothing that we couldn’t handle, in a lot of ways thanks to Handanovic. If a team is compact and defends well then it has done its part. Milan didn’t have that many great opportunities. We were winning 2-0 so we had to stay more attentive since Milan’s attackers are very fast. We controlled the game well, then two situations from set pieces tells us otherwise. The responsibility is ours. My future? It depends on the club and the choices they make after the end of the season. We will know soon, for now all that matters is that there is still some games to be played and we have to continue to improve in those situations where we lacked efficiency.”
