It is seven years to the day since ‘that day’ in Madrid where Inter won the Champions League. Inter’s Vice President Javier Zanetti reflected on the win in an interview with British outlet FourFourTwo, who have been interviewing winners of the Champions League: “We knew we faced the best players in the way people used to play semi-finals of the Champions League and be able to split the game at all times. In the first leg we lost 1-0 but we were convinced we could win anyway and in the end we managed to win 3-1. That team showed great unity and a great personality; the truth is that we were first formed by great people who have great players with great human values, and we were all focused on that goal.”
“It was a dream, the best moment of my career. It was my 700th game with Inter, but mainly because the Inter supporters waited for that moment for so long. When we returned to Milan at dawn with the Cup at the San Siro stadium I experienced a moment that I will keep forever in my heart and I will never forget.”
