Mauro Icardi stopped by Inter Channel to speak to Roberto Scarpini after the impressive win away against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.
“We hope to be able to score like this for many matches to come, we are all very happy. I am happy for my brace, a bit shame that I couldn’t score when I was put through on goal from the middle of the pitch but I lost a bit of power when I got to the goal. In the first half I wasn’t expecting the ball so I guess it was lucky that the referee blew the whistle for an offside call.”
Are you the driving force behind this team?
“No, we’re all the driving force, not just me. Then I have to finish the build up, that’s my role. We’re a good group, we play like a team now something that was missing last season. The new arrivals are integrating well into the team.”
What sign are you sending to the rest of the league with these 6 points won?
“We had a great summer pre-season training camp and we’re very happy to have done well now at the beginning of the league. We can g to the international break with our minds at ease. Now our heads must focus on SPAL, it won’t be easy, we have to remember that in the past we have dropped points against the smaller teams. We cannot underestimate anyone.”
Is Icardi ruthless in front of goal now?
“I have been lucky to not have missed a lot, it happens that I score often. We hope that these goals are useful because last season I scored a lot too but they were of no use in the end.”
How do you think Dalbert did?
“He did really well, he also saved a certain goal.”
