Nacho, Alessandro Buongiorno, Nicolas Valentini, and Sam Beukema are among Inter Milan’s targets to strengthen in defense this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

One area in which Inter will look to make a signing this summer is in defense.

Inter currently have Alessandro Bastoni, Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij, Benjamin Pavard, and Yann Bisseck available as specialist options in the back three.

Meanwhile, both Matteo Darmian and Carlos Augusto have proven versatile enough to fill in.

However, the Nerazzurri are well aware of the need for even greater depth next season.

Therefore, the club see a new defender as a priority. Particularly given that several players who have been defensive stalwarts this season are in their mid-thirties.

Nacho, Buongiorno, Valentini & Beukema On Inter Defensive Shortlist

One possible short-term option would be represented by veteran Real Madrid defender Nacho.

The 34-year-old, who is currently Los Blancos captain, is set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the current season.

And Inter have long been admirers of Nacho. They see him as the right profile for a back three.

The Spaniard could be an option to add one more option at the back with bags of European experience and well-established quality.

On the other hand, Inter could go for a younger player who would be an option for the future as well.

Inter’s top target in that respect would be Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno.

However, the 24-year-old will not come cheap. Therefore, the Corriere anticipate, Inter could also go after a less expensive player in that age range.

Boca Juniors defender Nicolas Valentini is out of contract at the end of December. Therefore, the 23-year-old could be on the move for a cut-price fee this summer.

Then, there is also Bologna defender Sam Beukema.

The Dutchman has impressed in his first season in Serie A. Therefore, Inter consider him to be another possible target.
